Rolling Stone's review of MY RE-GENERATION
Here's a great review of Joe Elliott's Down N' Outz "MY RE-GENERATION" album by David Fricke from Rolling Stone:
"Def Leppard singer turns in meticulous rock homage."
"This is no mere tribute album. It is exuberant classic-rock scholarship. Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott and members of the English band the Quireboys cover, with bang and bite, rare tracks associated with British hard-glam legends Mott The Hoople - including solo obscurities by singer Ian Hunter and spangled punch from spinoff bands. Elliott keeps the eccentric drive of songs like Hunter's OVERNIGHT ANGELS, adding modern sheen and true fan's swagger in his voice-just the right touches to send you hunting for originals."
"Key Tracks: OVERNIGHT ANGELS, SHOUTING AND POINTING
Rating: 3.5/5"
ENGLAND ROCKS entering top 5
"ENGLAND ROCKS" by Joe Elliott's DOWN N' OUTZ project is now at number 4 in the Mediabase Classic Rock chart (showing realtime charts in 25 radio formats, based on radio airplay)!
Is it possible to get it to be number ONE? That's up to you! Keep requesting the song!
Joe Elliott covers Mott The Hoople rarities
Check out this article on Joe Elliott's DOWN N' OUTZ, written by David Fricke (author of 1987's official Def Leppard biography "ANIMAL INSTINCT"), which has just been published on RollingStone.com.
It started as a gig. Last fall, Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott opened for his favorite band, British hard-rock legends Mott The Hoople, at one of their reunion shows in London. Backed by members of the English band the Quireboys, Elliott covered deep tracks from the weird period after Mott The Hoople broke up in 1975: singer Ian Hunter's early solo albums; records by the spinoff bands Mott and British Lions. "I wanted people to go, 'I never thought I'd hear that song live again ever!'" Elliott recalls.
That set list is now a studio album, My ReGeneration Vol. 1 (Mailboat), cut with the Quireboys and credited to Joe Elliott's Down 'N' Outz. Elliott excavates the ironic bombast of Hunter's "GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY" and the title track from his neglected 1977 album, "OVERNIGHT ANGELS" pulls three explosive obscurites from 1976's Shouting and Pointing by Mott, a band made up of the original group's rhythm section with a new singer and guitarist; and does "ONE MORE CHANCE TO RUN", the opening number from the 1978 British Lions album, made by those Mott remnants with yet another singer. To fill out My ReGeneration, Elliott also recorded two solo acoustic numbers, the short Mott ballad "APOLOGIES" and a Hunter song, "3000 MILES FROM HERE," that Elliott used to sing and play on guitar, with his mom, when he was a teenager.
ENGLAND ROCKS cracks the top 10
"ENGLAND ROCKS" by Joe Elliott's DOWN N' OUTZ project has now entered the top 10 of the Mediabase Classic Rock chart (showing realtime charts in 25 radio formats, based on radio airplay)!
Thanks to everybody who requested the song on their local radio station! But let's not stop there -- keep calling your stations and tell them to play the song!
Down 'n' Outz on Rockline...and more
Missed Joe's appearance on Rockline Radio last week? No problem, you can still listen to Joe chatting away with host Bob Coburn, for a limited time at Rockline Replay.

Additionally, Yahoo! Music's Dave DiMartino posted a rather positive review of the album, which you can read here. And finally, "ENGLAND ROCKS" has climbed to number 11 on the Mediabase Classic Rock chart, so please keep calling your local radio station and request the song!
